Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833-1898) is known for his close association with the late Pre-Raphaelite movement, which sought to return to intense colors, compositions, and mimesis of nature. He was an exceptional draughtsman, and enjoyed vivid success for his paintings in the later part of his life. Burne-Jones was also a brilliant designer and was known for his ceramic tiles, jewelry, book illustration, tapestries, and for reviving the tradition of stained glass windows in Britain.
