Jules Pascin (French, 1885-1930) was a Bulgarian born French Expressionist painter known for his gestural, fleeting, and sensual portraits of women. He moved to Paris in 1905 where he became quickly associated with the Modernist movement and earned the pseudonym of the “Prince of Montparnasse” among Paris’ bohemian society. His work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre, the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.
